NHCAHPS: Understanding the Evolution of the Resident Experience
Nursing Home Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (NHCAHPS) is not yet mandatory for Medicare-certified nursing homes in the U.S. However, the survey instrument has been endorsed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and it is anticipated that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will soon mandate it.
NHCAHPS includes three types of surveys:
- Long-Stay Resident
- Discharge Resident
- Family Member
National Research Corporation is uniquely positioned to assist skilled nursing homes with the depth of CAHPS experience and concentration of knowledge about the nursing home profession. A few interesting facts about our experience include:
- Thousands of long term care providers currently work with National Research Corporation Resident and Family Experience and Employee Experience programs
- The largest private database of resident experience and employee experience satisfaction metrics in the long term care profession
- National Research Corporation understands the market nuances that affect and challenge skilled nursing facilities
- National Research Corporation is proud to release the annual National Research Report. This integrated report includes information on definitions of measures, drivers of excellence, explanations of how measures relate, and the impact of how long term services and supports (LTSS) care settings can—and should—improve.
When it comes time to start surveying, whether it’s voluntary or required, National Research Corporation will provide the best options for nursing homes to meet NHCAHPS regulatory requirements in the U.S. and to understand and improve satisfaction results in preparation for public reporting and value-based purchasing initiatives.
